    PLAY TOURIST:    If you want to take a tour of this beautiful area with a great company, use the Monterey Bay Scenic Tours.   Why not play tourist and see old Historic MontereyCannery RowCarmel, Steinbeck Festival, Musuems and Galleries, the Carmel Mission,   Fisherman's Wharf, play golf at one of the 23 courses or with your movie star buddies at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-AM Golf Tournament.   Take an automobile tour of Pacific Grove and let the Pacific Grove Historical Society provide you with great information on the former Methodist summer camp that was founded in 1875. Or take the world renowned 17 Mile Drive in Pebble Beach, but be sure to pay your $8.50 car entrance fee.  Photographic images of the past often provide insights into the character of a town and this collection of old Monterey County photographs is no exception.

    GET IN SHAPE: You can dive the depths of the ocean, jump from cliffs in a parasail or hang glider, hop on your horse or on your two-wheeled pedaled steed and enjoy more than 50 miles of awesome trails at Fort Ord where the the Sea Otter Classic bicycle races are run, jump from planes with Skydive Monterey Bay, just watch them California International Air Show or watch the boys buck on broncs at the California Rodeo Salinas.  Kayaking at Elkorn Slough and on the Monterey Bay can be an uplifting experience. Monterey Bay Kayaks has specialized in natural history tours, classes, rentals and sales since 1985. A B Seas Kayaks and Beachside Kayak Tours & Bike Rentals also rent kayaks.

    EAT, DRINK AND BE MERRYParty at the Monterey Wine Festival, visit one of the 46 wineries within driving distance,eat flowers at the Castroville Artichoke Festival, or eat those pulsating denizens of the deep at the Great Monterey Squid Festival.  If you are into the green you can always eat branches at the Broccoli Festival, or if the Above is your interest, the Spirit West Coast is the place to go.

    SEE NATURE: For Nature Lovers the Monterey Bay National Marina Sanctuary is a great place to see whales on a boat trip, see the sea in a kayak or in huge tanks while safe on shore at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. You can see other water or bird life in tide pools while sleuthing at Elkorn slough on your own or on a guided tour.  For land lubbers you may want to walk in the beautiful coastal Point Lobos State Reserve, in the wild Ventana Wilderness or just saunter down the Big Sur Coast.  For the lovers of the dainty, the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary in Pacific Grove offers a wondrous sight from October 15 to February 15 after their flight from Alaska.
